Hang of Thursdays

"It must be Thursday... I never could get the hang of Thursdays."

Undeserved royalty

A year ago today, I posted this on my blog. So much has happened in a year. As I read what I had wrote what seems like forever-ago, I realized that I have a deeper understanding of what love and sacrifice look like, now, a year later, and I agree even more than I did then that I've got a Prince on my hands.

Fall Break!

You can ignore this post. If you want to read something REALLY interesting, check my blog from yesterday (Obviously not here, because yesterday wasn't Thursday. Today's Thursday. See? I'm getting the hang of this)

In other news, I'm on fall break. It figures, the only time Josh and I have a break on the same weekend, my fall break is Thursday-Friday and his is Monday-Tuesday. My mom & grandparents are coming for lunch today, so I need to get busy cleaning the apartment. After lunch I'm going to work about 5 hours on a class project. Tomorrow & Saturday Josh & I are going to hang out. We had outdoor plans, but the weather may or may not cooperate. Regardless, I'll enjoy the day off.

My OTHER roommates

So, Melissa's my roommate, technically, but there are two others that are in my bedroom way more than I or Melissa are. They are Melissa's turtles! She has two turtles that are very fun to watch. THey are very small now- probably two inches across- but apparently will grow. Eventually.
Here are some webcam shots of one of them (the web cam is linked from Melissa's blog)

In this one, I think the turtle looks heroic, but not in a silly-teenage-ninja-turtle way.:

Another blog of note

Operation Eden

I'm enraptured by these stories and these pictures and these people. They're beautiful. And tragic. And deeper-- deeper than the stories on the news that are shot in 15-second sound bites or about political manuevering and failure. This highlights real lives, real loss, real faces, real struggles thanks to the weather and FEMA and mold and everything that seems to be going wrong. The photographer sayd that he's asked to take pictures of celebrities, to make them look 'heroic', but celebrities aren't heroes. These people are. And that's why he does this.

Beautiful, just beautiful.
